Conclusion

It’s hard to come to a final judgment on the Bermuda Triangle and its' phenomenal events. The lack of evidence to tracing the missing boats, planes, and their members leads me to believe the Triangle is purely supernatural. The radical theories that have been created to come up with some sound reason for the disappearances are near fantasy and are hard to follow through with so little evidence. However, as frightening the area may be I’d still like to travel through it and hope to discover at least one of its’ hundreds of mysteries. Hopefully I’m able to make it through with my camera and receive numerous hits on YouTube. If anything else I’d like to think of my trip as similar to the Greek poem The Odysssey. I wouldn’t be surprised if I ran into a plane grabbing Cyclops, the Sirens with voices strong enough to make electrical equipment go haywire, or even the boat and human eating Kraken.

Evidence

We ought to know by now that the Bermuda Triangle holds a lot of the unknown. It raises many questions but does not release enough answers. According to Strange and Paranormal Activities, since the discovery of the Triangle, it hasas many as 100 ships and planes that have been reported missing, and taking over 1000 lives.” The disappearances of these transportation machines have led people to come up with theories that include the involvement of pirates, aliens, time vortexes, and a huge comet that hit the area containing disarraying electrical effects. The “Methane Hydrates” theory actually holds some plausible evidence. Methane hydrates are located beneath the sea floor of the Bermuda Triangle and when released to the surface they cause water to become less dense and thus possibly sinking a ship (Science Channel). When they hit the air they could cause enough damage to a plane to throw it off course or crash it (Science Channel). I just hope not to be another unsolved mystery as I sail further into research of this phenomenon.

Stories

The Bermuda Triangle has been a marvelous spectacle since the mid 20th-century. People love to excite things up to receive the first or most attention. So since its discovery many people have written stories about it. Many authors started with the disappearance of Flight 19. Flight 19 was a trail of military aircrafts passing through the triangle trying to get to Fort Lauderdale, Fl. No recordable communications were made but in Allan W. Eckert’s article, “The Mystery of the Lost Patrol,” he gives frightening details that the ocean looks unusual, all the planes radio and aircraft equipment were out of sync,  and the compasses were turning every which way not giving them a sense of direction. Charles Berlitz’s well known book, “The Bermuda Triangle,” contains all the mysteries and theories as he dubbed it “The Deadly Triangle. Many other books and stories have been written about the Triangle and seemingly they all hold partial truths and many more questions.

Background

The Bermuda Triangle is located on the southeast side of Florida edging the Atlantic Ocean Coast. It is Miami, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Bermuda islands that are the coordinates that make up the Bermuda Triangle.  When looking at the triangle, (check right side of webpage), it forms the near perfect isosceles triangle. The triangle has become more eerie to me because after recognizing its’ perfect shape it leads me to believe it could be “perfectly” holding its’ secrets. One of the Triangle’s first mysteries dates back to the mid 20th-century when a 350ft square cut tramp steamer known as the Sandra became lost forever off the coast of Florida(Committee for Skeptical Inquiry).  Given its geographical location, in hurricane alley, many people believe tropical storms and massive waves may be the reason to the lost planes and ships (Science Channel). It’s not hard to believe because due to the crazy weather in Texas, people lose their minds.

Proposal

Everyone goes through the phase of curiousity growing up. I still feel like I am in that phase ever since I turned 10. I have asked my Dad about the The Bermuda Triangle when I was 10, again recently at the age of 20, and he was still unable to give me a straight answer. I believe the Triangle is part phenomenon and part incidental reality. Its frustrating to me, probably to many others also, when the answers don't show theirselves in this modern day world. Now in this day in age technology and scientific methods have been used to explain the stange mysteries in history to a certain point of rationale. I hope by using these methods I will be able to uncover the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle and it's many unsolved mysteries and lingering, haunting secrets.
